About Otium

The name Otium comes from Latin, the Roman concept of productive leisure and the time dedicated to intellectual and creative pursuits. Philosophy, engineering, art: the Romans believed the best thinking happened outside the office, not inside it.

Otium Initiatives started the same way: over breakfast tacos and long walks around Town Lake in Austin, Texas. A conversation about what good engineering teams actually need turned into a company. We started Otium to be the team that does the building.

The Team

T

Tony

Founder & Head of Engineering

Started in game QA, moved into test automation, then AI/ML engineering at two FAANG companies. Built production systems at scale with deep expertise in software testing and quality engineering. Started Otium because too many AI strategies die before anyone writes a line of code.

G

Gigi

Head of Data & Operations

Data scientist with deep experience in predictive modeling and analytics at Fortune 500 companies and a major global nonprofit. Runs Otium’s delivery, client operations, and finance with the same rigor she brings to data. PMP certified.

O

Oliver

Customer Success

Computational linguistics background, five years in B2B SaaS marketing. Owns client relationships and Otium’s content engine. If you found us through a blog post or a late-night Google search, that was probably Oliver.

R

Ren

Lead AI Engineer

Four years building production ML systems and autonomous AI agents at a major cloud provider. AWS Solutions Architect certified. Handles the full MLOps lifecycle from model training to production monitoring. Has opinions about data quality and will share them unprompted.
